An update on the fitness and availability of the Real Betis squad has been provided today.
According to Marca, Cédric Bakambu is already exercising on the pitch and has set his sights on the visit to Girona, although it is more likely that he returns after the second break.
The 32-year-old was the last of the four Betis signing in the winter transfer window to join the squad, as a result of his participation in the African Cup of Nations. However, with just a few minutes under his belt he has already demonstrated his ability to create dangerous chances.
Despite this, a muscular injury prevent Bakambu’s powerful emergence into manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans. The Congolese striker suffered a tear in his soleus, which kept him sidelined for some time.
The forward is now close to regaining full fitness and has already began his countdown to return to the playing field. Evidently, this week he was seen on the grass of the Luis del Sol Sports City accompanied by David Álvarez, who is the head of rehabilitation at the club.
If Bakambu manages to join the group next week without any setbacks, then he could return in Betis’s next league match against Girona. Alternatively, the striker would return after Copa del Rey final.
