Real Betis have been increasingly relying on bringing in younger talented forwards and looking to sell them at a profit in recent years, and the latest talent they have identified is in Egypt. Omar Sayed Moawad has already penned a deal with Los Verdiblancos.
That is the information being reported by Relevo, who say that 18-year-old Moawad will join Betis in January. Currently playing for Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, Moawad is a right-winger who plays for their under-21 side. He is still getting back up to full speed after an anterior cruciate ligament injury that he suffered in September of 2023. Just months before, he had played a friendly on trial with the Betis B team.
Moawad has 5 goals in 11 appearances for Egypt’s under-17 side, and has been watched by Betis for some time, but they were unable to do a deal for him due FIFA regulations on under-18s. He is expected to start with their under-19s. The tricky winger is also the son of Sayed Moawad, who was capped 79 times by Egypt.
