Real Betis sign Irish striker Troy Parrott | OneFootball

Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has completed his move from AZ Alkmaar to Spanish side Real Betis on a five-year contract.

The move is reportedly worth around €20m (£17.1m).

The 24-year-old joins Betis after an impressive campaign in the Netherlands, where he scored 16 goals in 28 league appearances and finished the season with 43 goal contributions across all competitions.

Parrott joined AZ from Tottenham in July 2024 after a successful loan spell with Excelsior Rotterdam. Despite missing part of last season with a knee ligament injury, he returned to form and established himself as one of Ireland’s key attacking players.

Last season, his international performances also attracted plenty of attention. Parrott scored twice against Portugal before hitting a hat-trick, including a dramatic late winner, in Ireland’s 3-2 victory over Hungary.

Capped 37 times, he will now take the next step in his career with Betis, who finished fifth in La Liga last season and secured Champions League football.
