Wolves could land an unexpected windfall if Fabio Silva leaves Borussia Dortmund, with a La Liga loan and buy option moving closer.

According to Molineux.news, Real Betis are advancing talks to take the Portuguese forward on loan until the end of the season, with a permanent option included, and Dortmund are waiting for him to agree terms with the Spanish club.

Silva departed Molineux in the summer for around £23 million after five uncertain years that included four separate loans. His Wolves spell was largely unsuccessful.

Wolves inserted a sell-on clause that applies to any profit Dortmund make on a subsequent sale, although the percentage is unknown. For example, a £35 million sale would mean Wolves receive a cut of the £12 million profit.

The purchase option fee has not been disclosed, and Dortmund would be expected to seek at least their money back. If the figure is higher, the clause could deliver cash to the Old Gold sooner than anticipated.

If Betis cannot finalise terms, Villarreal are also said to be interested, offering Wolves multiple routes to a potential windfall.
