Real Betis star Willian José has provided his take on which of the two Copa del Rey finalists he would most like to see lift the trophy on Saturday night.
The Copa showpiece, of course, is set to play out later this evening.
After defying the odds in beating out competition from Spain’s top clubs to march all the way to the Seville finale, Athletic Club and Mallorca will lock horns, with history on the line.
It is the former, in the thick of the battle for a top-4 berth in La Liga, who are viewed as widespread favourites to emerge triumphant, with Athletic’s odds having only been boosted further by confirmation of a completely clean bill of health in Ernesto Valverde’s squad.
And one individual who will be supporting Los Leones from afar on Saturday night comes in the form of the aforementioned Willian José.
Speaking during an interview with RTV Betis, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis’ frontman was asked for his take on the Copa showcase.
And, putting Basque rivalries to one side in the face of his Real Sociedad past, Willian José went on to confirm:
“I hope Bilbao wins. I didn’t want to because I’m from Real Sociedad, but… They’ve been having a good season, looking for the Champions League, and they have a good team.”
