ESTELÍ, Nicaragua – Real Estelí FC won 3-0 against Managua FC as part of a Nicaraguan clash in the 2024 Central American Cup on Wednesday at the Estadio Independencia in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Óscar Acevedo gave the home side the lead in the 5’ with a header in the box to capitalize on a corner kick opportunity.
Josué Quijano doubled Estelí’s lead in the 41’ through a tidy finish inside the box, following a low cross from Byron Bonilla.
Juan Vieyra scored the third and final goal of the match in the 76’ to capitalize on a give-and-go on the left end of the pitch, beating the keeper with a powerful right-footed shot to the far post.
The result gives Estelí its first win of the campaign and takes the team to second place in Group D, with four points after two matches.
Estelí also extended its positive home record in the Central American Cup with the victory, winning five of six home games all-time. The club’s next challenge will be against Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa on August 20 at the Estadio Independencia.
Managua has won once and lost twice in the 2024 edition, amassing three points in Group D. The team will face AD Guanacasteca away on August 21 in Liberia, Costa Rica.
