Shortly before the second leg against FC Bayern, a spectacular rumor is causing a stir at Real Madrid: Toni Kroos could return
At Real Madrid, everything is focused on the sporting side of things ahead of the decisive Champions League second leg against FC Bayern – but in the background, a possible comeback by Toni Kroos is making headlines
As the Spanish newspaper AS reports, the 2014 world champion is to be tied more closely to the club again from the summer. The plan is to integrate Kroos into the sporting structure of the Whites. However, it is still unclear what specific role the 36-year-old could take on
Kroos ended his active career in 2024 after ten successful years at Real Madrid, during which time he won the Champions League five times and four Spanish championships
Now he could return in a new role – a move that the former midfield strategist himself has never ruled out: „I’m not saying that I’ll never do anything at Real again in my life or have anything to do with Real, of course I wouldn’t rule that out now,“ Kroos explained in his podcast
He continued: „But I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of seeing me in some capacity at Real again at some point.“
Real Madrid are currently under pressure in sporting terms. After losing 2-1 in the first leg against FC Bayern, they are facing the threat of elimination in the quarter-finals. They are also well behind FC Barcelona in the league and have already been knocked out of the cup
The situation is coming to a head, which is also reflected in the Spanish press. „Munich or the abyss“ was the headline in AS after the latest setback against Girona

Coach Álvaro Arbeloa clearly focused on the clash at the Allianz Arena: „Wednesday is our game. We know that. We have to put all our energy into it. We have to travel to Germany with full confidence.“
Kroos will not yet play a role in the second leg against FC Bayern, but the possible developments in the background show that Real Madrid could be facing a personnel shake-up in the summer.
