Martínez made a name for himself in 2024 during the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, impressing against both Milan and Barça. The club saw him as a highly promising talent, but he then suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury and missed the entire season.

Despite the setback, Real Madrid extended his contract with a release clause set at around 70 million euros. This year, he finally returned to action with Castilla and has shown real promise. With several defenders sidelined, Xabi Alonso has decided to give him his big chance.
