Real Madrid have continued their strong start to the 2026-27 season with a third win in a row, this one against Malaga by a 4-0 scoreline.

Jose Mourinho opted to make five changes to the side that won against Real Sociedad in midweek, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Marc Cucurella, Antonio Rudiger, Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz brought in. This freshness allowed Real Madrid to make a good start, and inside the opening 20 minutes, they had the opening goal – and it was all about Jude Bellingham, who moved away from several Malaga players before finishing through the legs of goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero.

Just over five minutes later, Real Madrid doubled their lead. Los Blancos piled on the pressure after Bellingham’s opener, and the Englishman played a big part in this goal too as his goal-bound header went in via Herrero, who was credited with an own goal after getting in the way of Carlos Puga’s clearance. And soon after, Kylian Mbappe followed up his midweek hat-trick by turning in Trent’s electric cross to make it 3-0 inside the opening half hour.

Second half played at much lower tempo

With the match all-but won by the 30th minute, it was no surprise to see Real Madrid lower the tempo. Malaga showed a couple of good moments, but it was Bellingham that came closest to scoring the fourth goal of the match when his effort crashed off the near post. The visitors did almost have the chance to get on the board when a penalty was awarded against Yan Diomande for handball, although it was quickly overruled as replays showed the Ivorian had his arm in a natural position after the ball cannoned off Rudiger’s head.

In the end, Real Madrid were able to add the icing on the cake with a fourth goal. Vinicius Junior did all the hard work, taking the ball away from a Malaga defender before squaring the ball for substitute Arda Guler to score his first of the season. And that was more than enough for Mourinho’s side to continue their 100% record in 2026-27.
