Real Madrid add surprise Bundesliga coach to manager shortlist – report | OneFootball

According to an update shared by Christian Falk, Real Madrid have added Sebastian Hoeneß to their shortlist of potential candidates, as the club evaluates managerial options ahead of the summer.

The 43-year-old has caught the club’s attention not through reputation, but through the clarity of his work at VfB Stuttgart. 

His team’s performances this season have stood out across Europe, particularly because of how competitive they have been without relying on high-profile signings.

Real Madrid impressed with Hoeneß

Within Real Madrid, there is a growing appreciation for Hoeneß’s model. 

Stuttgart’s structure, intensity, and attacking intent have made them one of the most watchable sides in the Bundesliga, and more importantly, one of the most efficient. 

Sitting comfortably in the top four, they are on course for Champions League qualification, which is a significant achievement given their squad profile.

Even then, Real Madrid are not rushing into a decision, but they are preparing for one.

While he continues to have the backing of both the dressing room and the board for now, the club is already exploring alternative profiles in case a change becomes necessary.

In that regard, several high-profile names have been discussed internally. 

Options like Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, and Didier Deschamps bring experience and pedigree, but each comes with complications – whether contractual, financial, or strategic.

This situation has opened the door for a different type of candidate, where Hoeneß represents a more progressive profile.

He is defined as a coach well-versed in modern football principles. His teams are built around high pressing, quick transitions, and positional fluidity. 

For now, though, the club’s priority remains the current campaign. 

Arbeloa is still in charge, and there is a shared focus on finishing the season strongly. However, once the campaign concludes, a full evaluation will take place.
