According to The Athletic, Manchester United teenage wonderkid JJ Gabriel has asked to leave the club immediately, a development that has rocked the Red Devils.

And, as per the report, several top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, are interested in the 15-year-old attacking prodigy.

Apart from Los Blancos, their arch-rivals FC Barcelona as well as German giants Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Gabriel wants out

Gabriel is widely regarded as one of the most gifted young talents coming through the youth football scenes in England.

Just 15 years old, he made history last year by becoming the youngest ever recipient of Manchester United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.

The teenager, who can play on the left flank or as a central attacking midfielder, was involved in the first-team pre-season, even getting a few minutes in the friendly against Atletico Madrid.

Last week, he scored a brilliant hat-trick for the Red Devils’ youth team in the UEFA Youth League against Sabah.

However, he has now decided to leave Manchester United and handed in a formal ‘letter of de-registeration’, which essentially is a request to terminate his contract immediately allowing him to leave the club for free.

Real Madrid keeping an eye

Real Madrid are always alert to promising youngsters making waves across the globe. They have signed several youth talents from within Spain and outside in recent years like Endrick, Franco Mastantuono, Arda Guler, and more recently Sergio Martinez.

Gabriel’s situation is bound to attract attention from the Merengues considering that he is counted among the best young prospects in England.

Moreover, he can leave for any club in Europe once he turns 16 as he has an Irish passport, making him an enticing target.

However, signing him will not be easy as Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also in the fray, while Manchester United will not give up easily.

Indeed, the report states that the Red Devils intend to reject the 15-year-old wonderkid’s de-registration request and convince him to continue at the club. It remains to be seen how the situation evolves.
