Real Madrid are always alert to young talents with potential across the globe. It has become a key strategy in their recruitment operations in recent years, with the club already securing deals for a number of youth prospects.
More are being tracked, with Real Madrid keeping an eye on the Brazilian teenage duo of Eduardo Conceicao and Eduardo Pape.
Now, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Real Madrid are among a host of top clubs across Europe closely monitoring Eirik Granaas.
Eirik Granaas, an attacking midfielder aged 16, is the latest sensation in Norwegian football. The young player currently plays for Fredrikstad FK in the Norwegian top division, where he has already made his debut.
Many compare him to former Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard. Notably, he was born and raised in Drammen, the same city that produced the Arsenal captain, who is also the idol of the 16-year-old.
Apart from Real Madrid, other big teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Liverpool are all in the race to sign him.
Granaas has made 23 appearances for Fredrikstad FK’s reserve team so far, scoring six goals. Meanwhile, he has six first-team appearances for the Norwegian club, in which he has found the back of the net once.
The teenager is also a part of the Norway U-16 national team setup, for whom he has played three times, netting one goal.
Granaas’ current contract with Fredrikstad FK expires in 2027. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid make a move for the young attacking midfielder.
