Liverpool have emerged as strong contenders in the pursuit of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, with Sky Sports reporting that Real Madrid and Manchester City are also tracking the 21-year-old. The Hungary international has enjoyed a breakout season under Andoni Iraola, starting every Premier League match and drawing widespread praise for his consistency, energy and maturity beyond his years.

The Reds’ interest carries added context: sporting director Richard Hughes, who joined Liverpool earlier this year, was responsible for bringing Kerkez to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. That familiarity could prove influential.
Left-back is high on Liverpool’s recruitment agenda this summer, alongside a new striker and winger. With uncertainty over the long-term future of Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson’s ongoing injury concerns, bolstering that flank is essential for Arne Slot, who took over from Jürgen Klopp in May 2024.

Kerkez, for his part, is open to a move but only if it guarantees regular first-team football.
This feels like a transfer that makes sense both in profile and practicality. Milos Kerkez is young, Premier League-proven, and tactically adaptable—attributes that align with the high-tempo, press-intensive style we know Slot will likely continue to refine.
With Richard Hughes having previously brought Kerkez to England, there’s a trust factor already in place. And after a season in which Liverpool’s left flank was often patched together due to Robertson’s injuries and Tsimikas’ inconsistency, fans are right to expect reinforcement that brings both stability and potential.
What’s promising is Kerkez’s insistence on regular minutes. That suggests hunger, not just a move for status. If he backs himself to earn a starting place at Anfield, then that’s exactly the mentality needed at this next phase of the club’s evolution.
In a summer that promises change and progression, this could be a smart, strategic piece of business—if Liverpool can beat the competition to the signature.
