In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a dream move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in 2026. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eager to get a deal done for the French talent this January or next summer.

Konate’s Recent Form In English Football

The 26-year-old has made a solid start to this campaign as he has managed to put in a few impressive displays at the heart of Arne Slot’s defence. Konate has featured in ten matches for the Merseyside club so far on all fronts.

The France international has a dominant presence inside his half and deserves credit for making 11 tackles, five blocks, five interceptions and 39 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back after completing 91.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Liverpool will run out at the end of this campaign, which could give Real Madrid a chance to land him on a free transfer next summer.

Will Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Go For Konate?

Konate loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and is accurate with his ball distribution.

The French sensation can even use his strong 1.94m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could prove to be a real asset in Real Madrid’s squad in the coming years.

We can expect Konate to bring a lot of quality to Los Blancos head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. However, only time will tell whether the Frenchman can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga.

At 26, Konate has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy option for the Madrid giants to pursue next year. Furthermore, he is currently on an expiring contract. Therefore, Alonso should focus on going all out to sign the French defensive ace on a free transfer next summer.
