In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a swap deal for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. It has been stated that Los Blancos are willing to send Eduardo Camavinga to the West London club to sign the Argentine talent.

Fernandez’s Impressive Start To This Premier League Season

Fernandez is having a solid campaign at Chelsea as he has already put in a few influential displays for them at the centre of the park. The Argentina international has made 11 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring three times and grabbing four assists on all fronts.

The 24-year-old has anchored the midfield well for the London giants and has done well to make six tackles, two blocks, three interceptions and three clearances in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass success rate of 81.9% in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2032. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to get a deal done for him next year.

Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Go For Fernandez?

Fernandez is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Argentine talent can strike the ball well from long range and is full of energy and running in the middle of the park. He mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a defensive midfielder or in the number ten position if required.

We can expect Fernandez to add more quality and depth to Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the Madrid club in the coming years.

At 24, Fernandez has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue next year. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting him, so Alonso should consider offering Eduardo Camavinga to bring the Argentina international to the Bernabeu this January or next summer.
