In a recent column on the Daily Briefing, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Real Madrid are showing interest in River Plate playmaker Franco Mastantuono this summer. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are eager to acquire the services of the Argentine attacker in this summer transfer window.
Mastantuono has come through the youth ranks of River Plate and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their first team. The Argentine playmaker has made 16 senior appearances for his current club so far, netting a couple of goals and picking up one assist across all fronts.
The 16-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for the Argentine club in the final third. He is currently one of the most promising young footballers in South America, so Real Madrid would do well to lure him to the Spanish capital this summer.
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out at the end of 2026. Hence, Los Blancos would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit him in this summer transfer period.

Mastantuono is a technically gifted footballer who can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. The Argentine sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Mastantuono to add more firepower to Real Madrid‘s attack in the long run. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
At 16, Mastantuono is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, Los Blancos would be wise to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before the start of the new campaign. However, Carlo Ancelotti would have to be patient with his progress if he wants to unlock the best out of the youngster at the Madrid club in the long run.
