Real Madrid ask UEFA to strip Barcelona of titles in explosive dossier

Now that the Real Madrid presidential election is over, Florentino Perez has started getting back to work after a successful campaign that saw him hold off the challenge of Enrique Riquelme. And one of the first pieces of business he’s dealt with is submitting a dossier to UEFA.

A few weeks ago, Perez revealed that he was compiling a document regarding Barcelona’s alleged crimes during the Negreira case. He’s now finished, and according to Diario AS, it has now been sent to the UEFA headquarters for president Aleksander Ceferin and the governing body’s legal time to read over.

In recent months, Real Madrid’s relationship with UEFA has improved, especially now that they have pulled the plug on the European Super League project. They are seeking sufficient punishment from the European football body towards Barcelona, who are still under investigation by the Spanish authorities for the alleged crime of sporting corruption.

Real Madrid believe that the evidence submitted in their dossier is enough for UEFA to strip titles from Barcelona during the period in which they made payments to former Technical Committee of Referees vice-president Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. It must be remembered that the Catalans won four Champions League titles in that period (2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015), but Los Blancos believe these should be taken away from them.

Real Madrid have hope for strong punishment

It must be remembered that back in 2023 when news first broke of Barcelona’s involvement with Negreira, UEFA president Ceferin referred to the matter as the “most serious case I have seen in football”. In this regard, Real Madrid will feel confident that their request for serious punishment will be granted, although the final decision will be made by UEFA’s legal department.

It remains to be seen how UEFA respond to the dossier, but what’s clear is that Real Madrid are pushing hard for Barcelona to be sanctioned.
