Real Madrid were able to maintain pressure on Barcelona at the top of the table, thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 win over Deportivo Alaves.
Although Los Blancos were leading comfortably for the majority of the game, a late surge from Alaves saw them concede two goals, and live out the rest of the game looking to defend a narrow one-goal margin.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid’s win saw Kylian Mbappe score again. But the Frenchman had to be subbed off later in the second half, after picking up a knock.
This led to fears that Mbappe could be ruled out for the upcoming derby against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
However, in a major boost for Real Madrid, MARCA reports that Mbappe does not have any serious knock and should be ready to face Atletico Madrid this weekend.

It appears the Frenchman was only suffering from discomfort and his substitute against Alaves was merely a precaution.
That said, it won’t be surprising to see the player undergoing a few tests to determine the extent of the blow to his thigh. In fact, Jose Luis Sanchez (h/t Fabrizio Romano) adds that the forward will undergo tests in the next 24/48 hours due to minor discomfort.
But everything suggests he will be fit for the Atleti game, which will be his first Madrid derby.
The French international has been in tremendous form heading into this derby as well, having netted in four consecutive matches since his brace against Real Betis.
Mbappe’s presence, therefore, could go a long way in boosting Real Madrid’s chances against Atletico Madrid, which has proven to be a tough foe for Carlo Ancelotti’s men even in the midst of their marvellous 39-game-long unbeaten run in La Liga.
