According to reports coming from England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are back in the race to sign Manchester City’s midfield maestro, Rodri.
The outlet assures that the Spanish international has caught the attention of the Madrid hierarchy once again, with plans already being discussed for a possible move next season.
Rodri, who turned 29 this year, remains a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s squad and has a contract that runs until 2027.
His importance to City is undeniable as he is the engine of the team, dictating play from midfield and offering balance both defensively and in attack.
For that reason, City president Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is determined to keep him and plans to offer a salary increase to ensure his long-term commitment.
According to reports, Real Madrid are ready to make a statement by offering around €150 million for Rodri.
This would represent one of the biggest transfers in football history, highlighting how much the Spanish giants value his qualities.

City, however, have no desire to part ways with one of Guardiola’s most trusted players.
In previous discussions, Real Madrid had considered bids around €100 million, but the club’s management now understands that a higher offer – close to €130-150 million – might be necessary to convince City to negotiate.
Florentino Perez is aware that this deal would not come cheap, but he also recognises that Rodri’s arrival could reshape Madrid’s midfield for years to come.
Rodri’s influence on the pitch is immense. Even though he suffered a knee injury in 2024, Madrid believe he has fully recovered and can continue performing at the highest level.
His composure, intelligence, and leadership could make him the perfect successor to players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
If the deal materialises, Real Madrid may need to offload a few players to balance their finances, but landing Rodri would send a clear message that the club is ready to dominate European football once again.
