Etta Eyong has emerged as one of the breakthrough stars in the 2025/26 La Liga season so far, with his standout performances for Levante.

Having joined them from Villarreal in the summer, the 22-year-old striker has registered nine goal involvements in ten La Liga matches this term (six goals, three assists).

Eyong’s impactful start has not gone unnoticed with top clubs from within Spain and across Europe taking note of his qualities.

Real Madrid interested in Etta Eyong

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are one of the many clubs who are monitoring Etta Eyong’s development at Levante.

However, apart from the Merengues, arch-rivals Barcelona are also interested in the 22-year-old centre-forward, along with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United from the Premier League.

In fact, the report states that Barça held an interest in Eyong last summer and tried to sign him, only to be stopped by their Financial Fair Play issues.

Barcelona continue to retain a strong interest in the striker as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski and believe they may have an advantage as the player is an admirer.

Eyong eager to resolve future in January

As per the report, Eyong wants to resolve his future in the upcoming January transfer window rather than waiting until the summer of 2026.

Indeed, the striker wants his transfer to be finalised in the winter itself, even though he would be forced to remain on loan at Levante until June 30, as he has already played for two clubs this season and cannot be registered for a third team according to rules.

The report also reveals that Real Madrid and Barcelona can sign Eyong for a sum of €30 million – the value of his release clause. But, the price rises to €40 million for teams from the Premier League.

For now, it is Barcelona who have shown a more concrete interest, while Real Madrid are only monitoring the Cameroonian. Whether that changes in the weeks to come remains to be seen.
