Real Madrid are satisfied with the strength of their current squad and believe the team are already capable of competing at the highest level.

According to Jose Felix Diaz (h/t Madrid Zone), the club’s internal view is that the squad are ready to win major trophies without needing a dramatic overhaul before the new season begins.

Madrid trust the squad already in place

Madrid have wrapped up four signings already this summer, bringing in the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella.

While Los Blancos continue to be linked with new signings this summer, they do not appear to feel they are operating from a position of urgency.

Believing the squad are ready does not necessarily mean the market is closed. Madrid can still react if the right opportunity appears, especially if departures create space for further business.

Mourinho still has decisions to make

The first weeks under Mourinho will be crucial in defining the squad hierarchy.

Some players may still leave after conversations with the coach, while certain positions could be reinforced if the club believe the balance can be improved.

The overall feeling appears to be confidence rather than concern, as Mourinho has an excellent set of players to work with.

Most of Los Blancos’ players have looked very good at the World Cup, and it is now about getting them to play well together in the new season.

Elite standards remain the real test

For Real Madrid, having a talented squad is only the starting point. The expectation is always to compete for La Liga, the Champions League and every other available trophy.

They are coming off two trophyless seasons, and for a club so used to winning trophies, that is not acceptable. This is precisely why a serial winner like Mourinho has been appointed.

The Portuguese manager will therefore be judged on how quickly he can turn individual quality into a clear structure, strong dressing-room hierarchy and consistent results.

The club’s confidence should be seen as a vote of faith in both the players and the new project. Madrid believe they already have enough quality to win at the highest level.

Now the responsibility shifts to Mourinho and the squad to prove that belief on the pitch.
