Real Madrid boss Alonso compares Arda Güler to Liverpool star | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week drawn a comparison between Blancos star Arda Güler, and a summer arrival at Premier League champions Liverpool.

Midfielder Arda has for his part of course taken his place centre stage in the chatter across Spain’s capital once more over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Turkish international conjured up his latest starring performance in the colours of Real Madrid.

After Real Madrid marked their return to action on the continent in a Champions League meeting with Juventus, Arda was afforded a starting berth in the middle of the park.

And en route to a hard-fought Blancos triumph, the 20-year-old shone bright once more, controlling proceedings with trademark poise and class.

Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, the name of his midfield starlet was in turn put to manager Xabi Alonso.

And the Spanish tactician made use of the opportunity to draw a comparison between Arda and Liverpool summer signing Florian Wirtz, whom he previously coached at Bayer Leverkusen:

“Arda Güler enjoys playing. It’s the same as when I had Florian Wirtz, he loves playing.”
