Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has provided an update on the wellbeing of star frontman Kylian Mbappé.
This comes after the Frenchman sat out Los Blancos’ most recent outing.
Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Real Sociedad to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, the evening’s hosts emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result, to leapfrog Barcelona back to the summit of the La Liga table.
En route to as much, though, the aforementioned Mbappé was forced to watch on from the bench for the entirety of the 90 minutes.
The former PSG standout picked up a minor fitness problem in training at Valdebebas this week, not risked against Sociedad as a result.
Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle at the Bernabéu tonight, Álvaro Arbeloa was therefore drawn on his top scorer’s status to face Benfica in the Champions League next week.
And the Spanish tactician went on to explain:
“Kylian Mbappé? He is good. He will be ready to start against Benfica on Tuesday. We didn’t want to risk him tonight.”
