Even at 38 years old, Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is showing no signs of slowing down.

Despite being on the wrong side of the 30s, he remains determined to win more trophies with the club and according to MARCA, Modric is still eager to contribute to Real Madrid’s success, even if his role has changed in recent years.

Modric is no longer the guaranteed starter he once was. In the first two matches of the new season, he came off the bench, a clear indication that he is not the main man in midfield anymore.

However, his experience and ability to control the game could be crucial for Real Madrid this season.

Now, with Nacho’s exit and Jude Bellingham’s injury, Modric is likely to lead the side at the Santiago Bernabeu against Valladolid on Sunday.

There are a few records in sight for Modric

As he approaches his 39th birthday on 9 September, Modric continues to impress with his skills both on and off the ball. His fighting spirit remains intact, and he is determined to maintain his role in the squad.

Despite being the player with the most trophies in Real Madrid’s history (27), Modric’s hunger for more silverware is undiminished. This season, he has the chance to add six more titles to his collection.

Modric’s ambition is clear: he wants to become one of the first players to win seven European Cups with Real Madrid. Of the 12 seasons he has played with the club, he has won the Champions League six times, a remarkable achievement.

Surpassing Ferenc Puskas

Furthermore, a significant milestone is also on the horizon. After the international break in October, Modric could break another record.

On 15 October, Croatia will face Portugal, and Modric will be 39 years and 36 days old. Later in October, Real Madrid will play Celta Vigo and if Modric plays, he will officially break Puskas’ long-standing record, as this will make him the oldest player in Real Madrid’s history.

This moment will further cement Modric’s legacy at Real Madrid, showing that age is just a number for this timeless midfielder.
