Since Real Madrid captain Nacho announced his intention to leave the club at the end of the season, talk has been rife about where the defender will end up next.
Another possibility has been revealed by Mundo Deportivo, who have mentioned the possibility of a surprise move to Italy, despite heavy rumours of a move to MLS.
The club in question is Inter Milan, who are attracted to the idea of signing a player of Nacho’s calibre on a free transfer.
Inter Milan’s first choice would be keeping their current centre-back pairing, but if Stefan de Vrij returns to the Netherlands, Nacho could be a top priority for the Italian champions.
Having played 42 matches in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, it seems that Nacho is still at the peak of his powers, and has a good few seasons left in him yet.
Nacho’s mind will likely currently be focused elsewhere, given the upcoming Champions League final and the possibility of being called up to the Spain squad for the Euros.
However, the veteran defender will definitely have one eye on his future next season, and Italy would likely be as attractive a destination as any for the 34-year-old.
