Real Madrid captain reflects on altercation with Lamine Yamal ahead of Super Cup final | OneFootball

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid lock horns with each other tomorrow in the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It promises to be an exciting match with an added edge, considering the rivalry between the two teams as well as recent bad blood developing due to off-field issues.

Lamine Yamal, who is at 100% fitness and ready to start, will be a key figure for Barcelona as they chase their first trophy of the new season.

Ahead of the game, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal spoke to the media and discussed the teenage wonderkid and the incident they were involved in during the previous El Clasico.

Leading up to the La Liga fixture between the two teams in October, Lamine made some statements in a humorous setting that were taken out of context and blown up.

Real Madrid players were far from pleased with what was said, and Carvajal, as a result, confronted the teenager after the game ended in a 2-1 win for the Merengues.

A heated altercation followed, with members from both teams getting involved. Reflecting on the matter, the Los Blancos’ skipper said (h/t SPORT):

“I think Lamine is a young kid and he wasn’t entirely right in those statements, but that’s all.

“As I said before with [Diego] Simeone, everyone tries to defend their own at the club level. He’s a great kid, and that’s where it ended.”

However, Carvajal added: “I don’t wish him the best tomorrow, obviously.”

Talking about the Clasico final for the Spanish Super Cup, the Spanish veteran stated that whoever wins would have a major boost for the rest of the season.

“It’s always a good time to win a final, especially against Barcelona, and I imagine our opponents feel the same way. Whoever wins tomorrow will come out stronger, as is only natural,” he remarked.
