With Dani Carvajal sidelined for the rest of 2025 with a knee injury, Federico Valverde has taken over the mantle of Real Madrid’s captaincy, and also become the regular starter for the team at right-back in the veteran star’s absence.
The Uruguayan international, however, could not inspire his team to a victory last night as Los Blancos fell to a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield.
Providing an update, journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE reports that Valverde ended the Liverpool encounter with discomfort in his right adductor.
The 27-year-old midfielder will now undergo tests tomorrow at the Real Madrid training facilities to learn the extent of his problem and whether it results in him getting sidelined for the upcoming matches.
Real Madrid are already dealing with notable absences in defence as Carvajal, David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger are all unavailable.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has only recently made his comeback from a hamstring injury and is being eased back into action by Xabi Alonso.
So, given the situation, if Valverde is also sidelined with an injury, it will be a disappointing blow for the Spanish capital giants.
So far this season, the 27-year-old ace has featured in 14 of Real Madrid’s 15 matches across all competitions, with the UCL clash vs Kairat Almaty being the only one where he did not play.
Valverde’s performances, especially in his natural role in midfield, have not been consistent enough, but he has still chipped in with four assists.
Real Madrid will be hoping that the mainstay’s adductor discomfort is nothing serious and that he is fit and available for the trip to Rayo Vallecano later this week.
