Earlier in the day, it was reported that Real Madrid’s delay on contract renewal talks with David Alaba has left the player in a limbo.

While Alaba has received numerous offers from clubs elsewhere, Real Madrid have yet to announce their final decision on the player’s future at Santiago Bernabeu.

One would assume Alaba would be more than happy to continue at Bernabeu should Real Madrid offer him another opportunity. But that appears to be an unlikely prospect at the moment.

Xabi Alonso knows Alaba’s next destination

According to the latest report from Defensa Central, Xabi Alonso has been made aware that Alaba is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The club won’t renew the contract of the Austrian international, who has struggled with numerous injuries since joining from Bayern Munich.

Alonso also knows that Alaba will move to Saudi Arabia next season, as he is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement in the upcoming January transfer window.

But despite knowing that he is leaving, Alonso is likely to utilise the services of Alaba as any other player in the squad.

Alaba’s services could be useful should Real Madrid require more depth at centre-back or left-back roles. He also brings significant experience on the table for a Real Madrid side who have lost veterans like Nacho, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in recent years.

As for his future at Real Madrid, the club were simply unsure about his longevity and age profile, coupled with the fact that he has struggled with injuries.

As a result, Real Madrid are unlikely to hand him a new contract and the player will become a free agent at the end of the season.
