Real Madrid have now confirmed their matchday squad list to take on Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
There had been a number of doubts coming into the fixture in this season’s Champions League phase as Xabi Alonso reportedly faces a fight to retain his position as Real Madrid head coach following a difficult season so far.
Madrid come into the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side off the back of a 0-2 home defeat to Celta Vigo in La Liga action, in a clash that ended with Los Blancos having just nine-men on the field owing to two red cards during the clash.
As for Manchester City, they are in much stronger form and dismissed of Sunderland in the Premier League via a 3-0 scoreline last time out, but will be without John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Rodri, and Kalvin Phillips themselves.
With Real Madrid’s training ground revealing some insight into the fitness difficulties faced by Xabi Alonso on Tuesday morning, Real Madrid’s official squad list has now been confirmed for the meeting with Manchester City, as Kylian Mbappe has been deemed available.
The decision on the Frenchman comes after he missed training on Tuesday owing to discomfort in his leg, alongside fellow compatriot Eduardo Camavinga – who has been deemed unavailable for the Bernabeu night.
Camavinga joins Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy in being absent from the matchday squad list announced by Real Madrid.
Xabi Alonso and his Los Blancos coaching staff have as a result taken the decision to call up a number of younger names into their squad list namely Joan Martínez (18, defender), Victor Valdepeñas (19, defender), and Jorge Cestero (19, midfielder).
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin, Fran Gonzalez
Defenders: Asenscio, A. Carreras, Fran Garcia, Rudiger, Joan Martinez, Valdepenas
Midfielders: Bellingham, Valverde, Tchouameni, Arda Guler, D. Ceballos, Cestero
