The growing list of injuries and physical problems have become a major cause of worry for Real Madrid this season.
Over the past year or so, there have been more than 90 cases of injuries in the squad – a matter of grave concern.
As such, the club are busy looking for solutions and president Florentino Perez has once again turned to familiar solutions.
Firstly, he has chosen to once again rehire former medical staff chief Niko Mihic as an authoritative voice within the medical department, in a supervisory role.
On top of that, SPORT reports that Antonio Pintus could regain prominence in the physical preparation of the Real Madrid first team.
Pintus is a trusted figure of Perez and remains under contract at the club despite being relieved of first-team duties upon the arrival of Xabi Alonso as manager.

Under the new head coach, the responsibility for physical preparation was handed to Ismael Camenforte, someone who has a background at Barcelona’s La Masia and had already worked alongside Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.
Pintus had already taken a step back from his regular duties in the second half of the last season following the team’s decline. Carlo Ancelotti’s trusted right-hand man, Francesco Amauri, had taken over the physical preparation duties for the first team.
At the start of the current season, the club appointed Pintus as head of performance, a more corporate role that confined him largely to office work.
He was available to advise physical coaches across all Real Madrid teams, but without real executive authority.
But that could change in the near future as he could be brought back into the first-team staff to work on physical preparation, given that the team’s injuries as well as physical level on the field have been causing worries.
