La Liga giants Real Madrid are hopeful of welcoming a pair of key defenders back into the fold in time for their upcoming showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.
That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold as the pair in question.
Right-backs Carvajal and Alexander-Arnold are of course both condemned to spells on the sidelines at present.
In the case of the former, the Spanish international is dealing with a calf complaint, whilst summer signing TAA is unavailable owing to a hamstring issue.
This situation has left manager Xabi Alonso with something of a dilemma, in deciding on who to field on the right of his backline.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media early this week is anything to go by, then the situation looks set to be an altogether rosier one for Alonso and his staff in the upcoming edition of El Clásico.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘There is optimism among Madrid’s medical staff that both Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold might recover in time to be selected (against Barcelona on October 26th).’
