Real Madrid continued their preparations for their next La Liga game as they get set to take on Getafe on Monday night at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Merengues will be intent on getting back to winning ways in the league, after losing to Osasuna in their previous match, which allowed Barcelona to reclaim top spot in the table.

Dean Huijsen back in training

And, after several difficult days with injuries, Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa received some positive news in today’s training session.

Indeed, according to AS, Dean Huijsen completed part of the training session with the group today, after being unavailable for the past few days.

The 20-year-old Spanish defender had been sidelined earlier this month due to problems with his right soleus muscle. As a result, he missed the team’s last two matches against Osasuna and Benfica.

Huijsen’s return was expected to take place for the game against Celta Vigo later next week, but he is now back in training ahead of the Getafe clash on Monday.

It is a welcome development for Arbeloa and Real Madrid, considering that they had only two fit senior centre-backs heading into that match – Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.

After all, Eder Militao remains unavailable while Raul Asencio sustained a neck injury in the game against Benfica earlier this week.

However, despite Huijsen’s return to training today, he might not be cleared to return to action on Monday against Getafe, and may have to wait until Friday’s match vs Celta to make his comeback.

Nonetheless, his imminent availability is a positive development for Real Madrid, who are also without Militao, Asencio, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Dani Ceballos.
