Real Madrid fans would fondly remember the fullback Ferland Mendy for his role in their team’s last two UEFA Champions League triumphs, but undoubtedly, the Frenchman’s time at the Merengue club has been anything but easy.

He has constantly been plagued by physical problems, and has barely been available for a few games in the last two seasons. Although he is close to returning to training after recovering from his current injury, it would still take him some months before being ready for competitive games.

Meanwhile, his problems have increased off the pitch as well. As SPORT has reported, the Real Madrid defender is facing a criminal lawsuit as he is being prosecuted for the injuries suffered by two dogs and a 17-year-old boy after four dogs escaped from his farm, back in January 2023.

The Prosecutor’s office is asking for a fine of €1200, while the private prosecution firm engaged by the injured boy is also demanding six months of prison time for the French defender.

An open trial for this case was already open, and a bail of €7410 was imposed on the footballer. Now, this case is set to undergo trail in the criminal court number 26 of Madrid, while a date for the hearing has not yet been set.

To make matters worse, the defender’s dogs, two mastiffs, a Turkish kangal, and a bulldog, did not had either an identification microchip, the compulsory civil liability insurance, or a vaccination against rabies.

Thus, he is facing charges of not taking due diligence in respect to controlling his pets properly, and in addition to the other penalties outlined previously, the prosecution is also asking for around €28000 in compensation for the individuals affected by the whole affair.

For now, it remains to be seen how this matter would proceed, but undoubtedly, this is another problem for Ferland Mendy as .
