Kylian Mbappe, Dean Huijsen and Eduardo Camavinga all returned early to Madrid from their respective national teams in the ongoing international break owing to niggles or mild injuries.
However, none of their injuries were seen to be serious enough to put their participation for Los Blancos under threat.
Now, just when the international break edged ever so close to completion, the men in white appeared to have suffered the inevitable setback that every international break brings – a relatively serious injury to a key starter.
The player in question is none other than Eder Militao who left the field in obvious pain during Brazil’s game against Tunisia last night and appeared to have discomfort in his thigh.
According to AS, Militao appears to have discomfort in his adductor muscle and he went to the ground in pain, asking for a substitution in the 57th minute on the night.
Given his facial expressions, gestures at the time and need to be taken off, the setback could be serious.

The player will return to Madrid and undergo tests on Wednesday to determine the severity of his setback and to get an estimate of how long he will stay out.
The only silver lining for Real Madrid is that the player stayed on the bench and did not go to the dressing room after his setback – hinting at a small muscular injury that may keep him out for a few weeks.
While one can indeed blame the international break for the injury, there is a major blame that must go on Militao himself for what happened last night given how he could have asked for a substitution far earlier.
The player felt discomfort as early as the 2nd minute against Tunisia but decided to play through it.
Once again, he seemed to be in visible discomfort midway through the first half but still persisted to play and aggravate the injury until he could participate no longer.
