According to MARCA, Real Madrid defender Eder Militao will undergo surgery this week in Finland after suffering a hamstring injury last week.
The Brazilian international was forced off during the match against Alaves due to discomfort in his hamstring, which was later diagnosed by the medical staff of Real Madrid as an injury to the biceps femoris of his left leg.
Now, he will undergo surgery for the injury, set to take place later this week in Finland.
The procedure will be carried out by renowned surgeon Lasse Lempainen, widely regarded as the leading specialist in the world for injuries of this kind, such as the one suffered by Militao during the match against Alaves while attempting a shot in a difficult position.
As a result of opting for surgical intervention, the Brazilian centre-back will miss the World Cup and is expected to be sidelined for close to five months in what represents another significant setback in his career.

Militao made the decision to undergo surgery after a period of reflection in which he also considered a conservative treatment option.
That alternative would have significantly reduced his recovery time to around five weeks and could have allowed him to participate in the World Cup with Brazil national football team.
However, it carried a much higher risk of recurrence, something that is expected to be reduced with the operation.
It means that Militao will not only miss the World Cup with Brazil, but he is also expected to be unavailable for the start of the new season for Real Madrid.
