It has been clear for a while now that Jesus Vallejo’s future appears to lie away from Real Madrid.

This is not new, as the 28-year-old defender is not part of the club’s plans under Carlo Ancelotti, having barely featured this season and his contract expires next summer.

However, in recent weeks, the possibility of him leaving this January has emerged.

Vallejo rejects Turkey

Indeed, Real Madrid insiders had stated a few days ago that the player was actively seeking a new destination.

However, according to Jorge C Picon, the Spanish centre-back has turned down the approaches he has received so far.

Recently, an intermediary contacted Vallejo to explore whether he would be interested in trying his luck in the Turkish league. Several clubs were reportedly looking for a central defender, including Trabzonspor. The response was a firm no.

Not only did Vallejo rule out the possibility of moving there, but he also communicated that his intention was to remain at Madrid until the summer.

Although he is open to listening to offers, he prefers to see out his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, which expires at the end of the season.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are keen for Vallejo to find a new destination sooner rather than later. They are looking to reach an agreement that would allow him to leave after ten years with the club. He would even be given assistance in securing a move, as was communicated to him last summer, provided he finds a club that meets his demands.

Should he stay, no obstacles would be placed in his way, but the club would prefer an early resolution instead of waiting until the summer.

Not an ideal situation

Vallejo is not currently enjoying the best of moments. Alleged discomfort kept him out of the Copa del Rey squad for the match against Deportiva Minera, the only game in which he had been truly considered by Ancelotti.

Medical staff found no injury, but Vallejo insisted that he was not at 100% fitness. The 28-year-old has since recovered and returned to Ancelotti’s squad lists without any apparent issues.

However, even players from the academy seem to have surpassed him in the rotation. Raul Asencio, for example, is now almost considered a starter due to injuries, and both Jacobo Ramon and Diego Aguado, are also pushing for a place, with the coaching staff holding them in high regard.

With just ten days remaining in the transfer window, unless a substantial offer comes in, Vallejo will likely stay and see out the remainder of his contract at Real Madrid.
