With the season nearing its end, a number of players from Real Madrid’s Castilla team could be looking at a potential departure in the summer given that a spot in the first-team setup is far from guaranteed.

In the recent past, players like Sergio Arribas, Carlos Dotor, Nico Paz, and Rafa Marin have been among those to have left after their cycle came to an end in Castilla.

Following in their footsteps this summer could be young striker Gonzalo Garcia.

Celta Vigo want Gonzalo Garcia

Indeed, as per journalist Oscar Mendez, Celta Vigo have set their sights on a summer move for Real Madrid Castilla’s Gonzalo Garcia, as they prepare to bolster their squad for next season.

The 21-year-old striker has been a standout performer for Castilla this season, racking up 25 goals and four assists from 35 appearances for Raul Gonzalez’s team in the RFEF Primera Division.

The Spanish forward made his senior debut for Real Madrid last season itself and scored his first goal this term in the Copa del Rey – the winner vs Leganes in the Round of 16.

Garcia’s strong performances have caught the attention of Celta’s sporting management, with the Galician club in need of reinforcements in attack, with at least two forwards expected to arrive.

Real Madrid want more than €5 million for 50% rights

However, the transfer will not be straightforward. Garcia’s performances for Castilla have raised his market value, and as such Real Madrid are seeking over €5 million for 50 percent of his rights, with still two years left on his contract.

This is a figure that Celta Vigo do not plan to meet, though alternative arrangements could be explored.

Celta are not the only club pursuing Gonzalo with clubs from Germany, England, and Spain also already expressing interest in the striker from Real Madrid, increasing his value week by week.

However, the La Liga club could potentially offer the 21-year-old more playing time than other suitors.
