It has been a season to forget for Real Madrid, with the team set to finish without any titles after having failed to win any major trophy last term as well.
The poor form of several players and the lack of a clear tactical identity are major concerns for Los Blancos, but at the same time, they have not been helped by injuries across the squad.
According to MARCA, concern within Real Madrid regarding the number of injuries has grown into major frustration, where the feeling is clear: “It is impossible like this”.
That frustration has deepened following the latest blows. The most serious is Eder Militao’s, as he will undergo surgery this week to treat a muscle injury sustained against Alaves. He will miss the World Cup and is expected to be sidelined for close to five months.
The other setback is Kylian Mbappe’s injury, less severe but still damaging.
With the latest injuries to Militao and Mbappe, Real Madrid have now suffered 55 injuries this season. Combined with 63 from the previous campaign, that makes 118 injuries over the last two years.
By comparison, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have recorded 65 and 82 injuries respectively over the same period. The scale of the problem has left Real Madrid competing with significantly reduced resources.

At one point this season, the team had 11 injuries in November alone, the peak of a difficult run in which they suffered 39 injuries across five months: October (7), November (11), December (7), January (7) and February (7).
At this stage, only Vinicius Jr., Fran Garcia, Gonzalo Garcia and Brahim Diaz have avoided injury. The other 20 players in the squad have all suffered physical issues, with 13 spending more than 50 days sidelined and eight exceeding 100 days out.
The season began with absences for Ferland Mendy, Endrick and Jude Bellingham, all recovering from previous injuries.
Other key players such as Eduardo Camavinga, Thibaut Courtois, Antonio Rudiger, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, and Dean Huijsen have also missed significant time, as have the likes of Dani Ceballos and David Alaba, and new signing Franco Mastantuono.
Rodrygo suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in early March, ruling him out for the remainder of the season and affecting planning for the next one.
For Real Madrid, injuries have not only disrupted the current campaign but are also shaping future decisions, with further changes being contemplated to the medical department.
