Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey final loss to FC Barcelona last night is set to have major repercussions as far as the future direction of the club is concerned.

There will be a change of managers in the near future while the club hierarchy could also decide to shake things up with the squad as well.

On the more immediate sense, three Real Madrid players finished the game injured and are set to undergo tests to determine the extent of their damage.

Meanwhile, as many as three players – Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, and Lucas Vazquez – were all shown red cards close to the full-time whistle.

Two-game ban likely for Bellingham, Vazquez

As reported already, Rudiger is likely to face a lengthy suspension of at least four matches for his actions, as he protested against the referee in an aggressive manner and even threw an object in his direction.

As for Bellingham and Vazquez, COPE now reports that the midfielder and the right-back are likely to face a two-match ban for their red cards.

Like Rudiger, Vazquez also received his red card on the bench. The veteran defender had been taken off in the 55th minute itself and was sent off at the final whistle for his protests.

The official match report from the referee explains that Vazquez was sent off “for protesting” a decision involving a late foul “by going several metres into the pitch and making gestures of disagreement.”

As for Bellingham, the official report states: “In the 120th minute, player (5) Bellingham, Jude Victor William was sent off for the following reason: after the end of the match, he came towards our position in an aggressive attitude and had to be restrained by his teammates.”

Based on what has been written in the referee’s report, Vazquez and Bellingham would receive a sanction of two matches or at the most three matches.

It would mean that the suspension will be restricted only to Copa del Rey matches and will have to be served out next season. As such, both players are expected to be available for the remainder of La Liga games this term.
