During the January transfer window, Real Madrid strengthened the youth ranks at La Fabrica with multiple new signings with an eye on the future.
One of the players who was brought in during the winter was teenage winger Alexis Ciria. The 18-year-old attacker was signed from Sevilla to reinforce the reserve team setup.
Now, according to AS, Real Madrid strongly believe that Ciria is a player who possesses ‘first-team potential’ after his fine start at Castilla.
“He’s something extraordinary,” they say at Valdebebas about the teenage Spaniard.
After all, Ciria debuted with the Juvenil A with a rabona and the winning goal in the Copa del Rey Juvenil.
Later on, he made his Castilla debut with an assist after coming on in the 66th minute, setting up Roberto Martín to rescue a 2-2 draw against Arenteiro.
Then, in his first start for the reserves, he scored the second goal in a 0-4 win in Lugo, while he also managed to find the back of the net for Real Madrid ‘C’.
“His potential is sky-high,” those at Valdebebas say about Ciria. “The youth category is too easy for him, even though he’s only in his second year,” they add.
There was no doubt when Real Madrid decided to sign him. They could have waited until summer as his contract was running out, but chose to bring him in early.
The original idea was for him to settle in the Juvenil team, then gradually move to Real Madrid C, with Castilla as a possibility later on. But his performances changed everything.
Now, he is expected to start next season fully integrated with Castilla, with the club strongly believing in him making a first-team breakthrough down the line.
