Endrick’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain despite the summer transfer window having closed, with AS Roma emerging as a potential destination for the Brazilian forward in January.

The 20-year-old returned to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after a successful six-month loan spell at Olympique Lyon, but is still not guaranteed a significant role in Jose Mourinho’s squad.

There had been talks of a summer exit, especially after Carlos Espi’s arrival, but nothing came of it. However, if his playing time remains limited during the first half of the season, another temporary move could become an option.

Endrick already considering Roma move

And, Italian journalist and commentator Jacopo Aliprandi, who closely follows AS Roma, has revealed that Endrick has discussed the possibility of joining the Serie A club with people close to him.

“Endrick has told his friends that moving to Roma in January is a very realistic possibility,” Aliprandi said in Corriere dello Sport (h/t Defensa Central).

There is currently no agreement between the clubs, and any potential move would depend heavily on Endrick’s situation during the first part of the campaign.

The Brazilian is still expected to fight for his place at Real Madrid, but another departure could be considered if he feels he is not getting the regular football required to continue his development.

Competition for places is fierce at Real Madrid

Endrick has returned to a Real Madrid squad packed with attacking options.

Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. remain fixed starters in attack, while Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham are also viewed as extremely key in the team’s make-up.

Throw into the mix the presence of Espi as the backup striker and the competition from players like Yan Diomande and Brahim Diaz on the right flank, Endrick faces a stiff competition for regular minutes.

Mourinho, for his part, appreciates the youngster’s potential. Real Madrid, too, still regard him as an important investment for the future and have no intention of easily giving up his rights.

However, at 20, the Brazilian needs consistent playing time to continue developing, and a prolonged spell on the bench could force the issue.

So, If Roma were to make a move in January, the most likely solution would initially be a loan, allowing Endrick to gain regular experience in Serie A without Real Madrid committing to a permanent transfer.

For now, Endrick’s priority is to convince Mourinho that he deserves a place in the Real Madrid team.

Currently recovering from a muscle issue, the minutes he receives over the coming weeks will be crucial in determining what happens in January.
