Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has made clear that matters at club level take priority over those on the international stage in his career at present.

That’s according to French football insider Santi Aouna, who has on Saturday provided an insight into the current mindset of the 25-year-old.

Mbappé, for his part, was of course not part of the latest squad of players called up by France head coach Didier Deschamps for the October international break.

This comes amid efforts on the part of the former Paris Saint-Germain standout to fully recover from a recent spell on the sidelines through injury.

As per the aforementioned Santi Aouna, however, fit or not, it was never Mbappé’s intention to link up with his country this month:

‘Kylian Mbappé had already warned during the last meeting that he did not wish to take part in this international break with the Blues.’

The prolific frontman had made as much crystal clear to Didier Deschamps and his coaching staff.

It is added that Mbappé has made winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or a personal target, therefore keen to only take to the pitch for France in fixtures deemed to be of high importance.
