Real Madrid received welcome boost on Thursday as young Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono returned to training after recovering from groin injury that had sidelined him for several matches across La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

The 18 year old has missed recent fixtures due to discomfort in the pubic area but he has now resumed individual training taking part in tailored sessions alongside Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni both of whom are also working their way back to full fitness.

Real Madrid confirmed the update through official statement on the club’s website.

Doubtful for Elche

Xabi Alonso’s side face Elche on Sunday at 8 PM GMT in La Liga matchweek 3 and Mastantuono’s availability remains uncertain.

According to AS, it is "difficult to determine" whether the midfielder will be match ready for the upcoming league game although his progress has been positive enough that late inclusion cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile The Athletic reports that Real Madrid expect Mastantuono to be fully fit and available before the start of December suggesting his return to competitive action is close.
