Real Madrid have entered a deep crisis in the space of five days.
From losing the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona last Sunday, to the sacking of Xabi Alonso a day later, only to see the team crash out of the Copa del Rey against a lower league team under new boss Alvaro Arbeloa, the Merengues have hit rock bottom.
The club management, led by Florentino Perez, is far from pleased with the situation and there could be some major decisions made in the summer.
As for the present, though, according to COPE, Real Madrid have complete confidence on Arbeloa.
The 42-year-old former player had done a solid job with Castilla so far this season and has previously enjoyed success with the club’s youth teams.
It has seemingly earned him enough trust from Los Blancos, with the hierarchy now having enough confidence in him to lead the team to success in the two competitions they remain alive in – La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid are clear that they needed a change of direction and that Alonso needed to go.
While the Albacete defeat was the lowest point of the season, Arbeloa will not be judged on the Copa del Rey humiliation as he had only one day with the team before the game.
However, despite acknowledging the team’s current situation and their faith in the manager, Real Madrid will not equip him with new signings in the ongoing January transfer window.
The Spanish capital club have maintained and continue to insist that the current squad is more than capable of competing for and winning all trophies. As such, there will be no new signings.
Instead, it will be made clear to Arbeloa and the team that they must step up and put more efforts in the second half of the season, starting with the home game against Levante this weekend where they expect an angry reception and a chorus of boos from fans.
