Real Madrid have a ‘growing interest’ in Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori, alongside teammate William Saliba.
The Spanish side want to strengthen their defensive options this summer amid injury issues for Eder Militao and David Alaba.
The latter has made just three starts in La Liga this season after recovering from an ACL injury, while Militao and full-back Dani Carvajal are current long-term absentees with knee injuries.
Saliba’s performances in North London are being closely tracked, with the Frenchman having emerged as one of Europe’s best centre-backs at Arsenal.
The Gunners are keen to tie Saliba down to a new deal but have so far failed to reach terms on an extension. His current contract expires in 2025 and Real Madrid are monitoring developments.
Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Calafiori is also a player of interest. The Italian’s ability to operate centrally or at left-back appeals to Carlo Ancelotti, who is plotting a summer move for his compatriot.
Calafiori signed for Arsenal in a £42m deal from Bologna last summer, having helped the Serie A side to a shock Champions League qualification.
He has impressed during his debut season with the Gunners, though injuries have restricted the 22-year-old to just 11 league starts. The emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly has also increased competition for a first-team place.
