In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid have set their sights on Liverpool playmaker Florian Wirtz. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos could offer the Germany international an escape route following his tough start to life at the Merseyside club.

Wirtz’s Tough Start To His Liverpool Career

Wirtz has struggled to catch the eye with his performances for the Reds this season following his move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen last summer. The German talent has secured six assists in 22 matches for the Merseyside club in this campaign so far on all fronts.

The 22-year-old has proven his worth at times in the final third as he is averaging 1.66 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. However, he has only kept 30% of his attempts on target. Wirtz has distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 81.9% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Is Wirtz A Decent Option For Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso?

Wirtz can strike the ball with power and precision from long range. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The German sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a right-sided wide player or as a left-winger if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can prove his worth in Premier League football, which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him next year.

We can expect Wirtz to enhance the quality of Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Madrid club in the coming years.
