In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Penarol keeper Randall Rodriguez as a target. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to land the Uruguayan prospect this year.

Rodriguez’s Impressive Rise In Argentine Football

The 20-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Penarol and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their Under-19 team. Rodriguez has made nine appearances for Penarol’s U-19 side, conceding seven goals and securing two clean sheets in all competitions. However, he is still waiting to play for the Argentine club’s senior team.

Rodriguez is under contract at Penarol until the end of this year. Hence, it makes sense for Real Madrid to try and arrange a cut-price move for him soon. However, he is still quite inexperienced and would need time to settle into life in Spanish football.

Real Madrid Identify Rodriguez As A Target: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Rodriguez has got decent reflexes under his belt that allow him to make some solid saves inside his half. He is a good handler of the ball as well and can use his strong 1.89m frame to dominate his penalty box.

The Uruguayan talent is a tidy passer of the ball from the back. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, there is no denying that Rodriguez has the potential to become a future star in European football.

At 20, the Uruguayan sensation has already caught the eye in Argentina and could serve as an ideal understudy to Thibaut Courtois at Real Madrid. He is good enough to succeed the Belgian keeper at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the future.

Thus, Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti should consider getting a deal done for him this January or at the end of this campaign as long as he is willing to be patient with his progress.
