In a recent tweet, journalist Jorge Picon claimed that Real Madrid have identified Lille defender Leny Yoro as a target for the upcoming transfer window. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the French centre-half later this year.

Yoro’s Impressive Rise In Ligue 1

The 18-year-old is enjoying his football at Lille this season after putting in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their defence. Yoro has scored three times in 41 matches for the French outfit during this campaign across all fronts.

The French talent has been a rock at the back and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half after completing 92.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the French club will run out at the end of next season. Thus, Los Blancos could potentially sign him on the cheap later this summer.

What Will Yoro Add To Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s Team?

Yoro loves a tackle and can earn the ball back for his team inside his half when he is playing well on the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The French talent can even use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. Furthermore, he is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Yoro would add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence in the long run. He is already good enough to fight for a regular first team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming years.

At 18, Yoro has the potential to become a future star at the Madrid club as long as he continues to improve with each season. He might even help Los Blancos compete for plenty of major honours over the next decade. Therefore, Ancelotti would be wise to try everything in his power to lure Yoro to the Spanish capital when the transfer window reopens later this year.
