Real Madrid have conceded only two goals in their first five league matches this season – their best defensive record in ten years.

Much of the credit goes to players like Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras, who have performed consistently. But another key asset for Los Blancos at the back has been Eder Militao.

After coming back from a long injury layoff, many expected the Brazilian to have a difficult time settling into the pace of the game.

However, after initially alternating between Antonio Rudiger at centre-back, Militao has now become a key starter for Real Madrid in La Liga.

According to MARCA, the Real Madrid camp has been left impressed by the kind of commitment and fitness levels Militao has shown this season.

Despite a tough recovery period, the Brazilian has looked sharp and is now once again a key player for Los Blancos.

Much of the credit should be given to his determination, as the former Porto star never gave up and stopped believing that he would once again become a key player for the club.

The resilience shown by Militao, in fact, has been reflected in the whole team, which considers him as a reference and a leader.

This bodes well for the Whites, who have been yearning for a defensive leader following the departure of Nacho Fernandez.

In addition to his leadership qualities, Militao’s dominance in aerial duels, coupled with his ability to play out from the back have added more stability to Real Madrid’s backline.

Militao’s return to form will be useful for Los Blancos, as they brace themselves for yet another defensive overhaul in the summer of 2026, with both Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano reportedly keen on joining the club next summer.
