Real Madrid are caught in two minds as to how to approach the defensive crisis. Two enticing options have presented themselves as candidate moves – the transfer window and the academy, and there is a serious internal debate as to which is better.
A third, unexplored category of solutions, however, is the free agent market of players who are currently not playing for any club.
As revealed by El Chiringuito, Sergio Ramos, who finds himself in such a situation, has offered himself to Real Madrid as a temporary solution.
The Spanish outlet reporting the former captain’s eagerness to return to the club for a fairytale story is indeed great news for the Real Madrid faithful.

Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez, however, are firmly against the idea and have also reportedly conveyed to the player that he is not an option they consider.
For starters, the player has been far from his best both in terms of quality and fitness for a long time now and his relatively long time out of action only adds to Real Madrid’s hesitance.
In fact, he was last seen in action for Sevilla against Barcelona in May and has not played ever since.
Further, Los Blancos very rarely green-light players returning back to the club for they firmly believe that a closed door cannot be reopened. At 38 years of age, moreover, the prospects of him stepping up are very few.
Ramos left Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 after he could not agree terms with the board over a renewal and it is thus safe to say that his departure was not on good terms. A fairytale return, at this point, is ruled out.
